Commissioned through an open call for the 10th anniversary of Yardworks Festival in Glasgow, this large-scale mural project transformed a 12-meter bridge pillar beneath the iconic Kingston Bridge into a vertical landscape inspired by movement, water, and migration.
Developed specifically for the architectural rhythm of the bridge structure, the proposal draws from the flow of the River Clyde, the surrounding infrastructure, and the layered histories of movement and transition connected to the city. Organic forms, fluid colour fields, and recurring birds create a visual language that speaks about freedom, resilience, and collective direction within an urban environment defined by constant passage.
The project was painted over four days using a combination of acrylic paint and spray paint. The scope included concept development, adaptation of the artwork to the pillar format, material selection, colour studies, and full on-site execution.
The palette was designed to introduce softness and moments of pause into the concrete setting, creating a dialogue between nature, movement, and the industrial landscape. While each pillar maintains its own composition, the modular design allows the intervention to function as part of a larger connected narrative throughout the space.
