Commissioned by Pintadas Horizontales, this basketball court transformation took place at a modernist public school in Reus, Catalonia. The design was inspired by the song “Feeling Good” by Nina Simone, which was also played during the creative process to reinforce a message of hope, empowerment, and new beginnings.
The scope of this project included concept development, complete design, paint selection, and the execution of the mural directly on the court surface. In addition to the artwork, the project featured participatory workshops with students who contributed ideas and illustrations that were integrated into the final layout. The design included simplified line art elements that invited interaction, allowing students to reinterpret and engage with the visuals personally.
The project was highly impactful, shifting the perception of the school within the local community—from a stigmatized institution to a celebrated and inclusive educational space. Its success was recognized by the city and featured in local press, reinforcing how public art can positively influence urban and social environments.
